SAE 1008 Low-Carbon Wire Rod
Wire rod to ASTM A510 / GB/T 701
SAE 1008 is a very low-carbon wire rod used as the raw material for drawing, cold heading and welding wire. Carbon is capped at 0.10 %, which makes it soft enough to draw to fine sizes without intermediate annealing. Chinese mills roll the same material to GB/T 701 under Q195, so both designations are quoted on the same coil.
